Rules and policies

Rules and policies are in place to make sure your child remains safe and well at school.

Visit the NSW Department of Education’s policy library for all current operational policies.

Our school uses the department's School Community Charter to ensure all of our communication is collaborative and respectful.

Attendance and absences

Students must attend school regularly so they can achieve their educational best and increase their career and life options.

In NSW, all children from the age of 6 are legally required to attend school or be registered for home schooling through the NSW Education Standards Authority (NESA). All students must complete Year 10, or its equivalent and remain in school, employment or training until they turn 17.

School frameworks (school rules)

As well as following the department’s operational policies, we have developed frameworks for our students in line with our school’s values and commitments.

Homework provides training for students in planning and organising time and develops a range of skills in identifying and using information resources. Additionally, it establishes habits of study, concentration and self-discipline.

This policy is scheduled for review in 2023.

Student Use of Digital Devices and Online Services Procedures

Student Use of Digital Devices and Online Services Procedures

Digital technology can empower authentic, meaningful, collaborative and engaged learning but has both opportunities and risks. Children and young people need to be supported to use technology in safe, respectful and responsible ways. This is a shared responsibility for school staff, parents and carers, and the students themselves.

Our school acknowledges the educational value of digital devices and online services in supporting and enhancing educational outcomes and student wellbeing. We also recognise they may cause harm if used inappropriately and that we need to support our students to use them in safe, responsible and respectful ways.

During 2021 we revised our Student Use of Digital Devices and Online Services Procedures through consultation with staff, students and the community. These procedures were communicated during term 4, 2021 and have been implemented from the commencement of 2022.

The procedures provide a consistent framework for the safe, responsible and respectful use of digital devices and online services by students in our school. It sets out the shared responsibilities of school staff, students and parents and carers. It also provides a framework to manage potential risks to student safety and wellbeing.

This procedure covers student use of digital devices and online services in school-related settings, including on school grounds, at school-related activities and outside of school where there is a clear and close connection between the school and the conduct of students. This procedure covers the use of school-provided and personal digital devices and all online services.

This procedure is in line with the Department of Education’s (DoE) Student use of digital devices and online services policy which clearly identifies that primary-aged students are not allowed to use digital devices during class time, recess and lunch, unless for an educational purpose or other reasons such as an adjustment to support learning and wellbeing.

Students are strongly discouraged from bringing personal devices to school. If students are found to be using digital devices for non-educational purposes or have their own personal devices this will be managed in line with our wellbeing and discipline procedures.

The entire school community will be responsible for implementation of the uniform code.

The uniform code will be phased in from Term 4 (2022) with full implementation commencing 2023.
